A clutter of memorabilia

“I like to read

when the winds are light,”

she says.

Her eyes have a lounge-like

spaciousness

and remind me

of my first experiences

of water.

“And I like vampires.

They’re sophisticated,

and knowledgeable,

and mysterious,”

she continues.

I am doing breathy

morning squats

in tube socks and underwear.

She wonders which one-piece

will make a statement poolside,

and cheerily dives

into a jackfruit taco.

I have stepped into my

memory archive,

a clutter of memorabilia,

where I run around a forming cloud,

coaxing it into shape.
